Everyday is a new day. Every chapter is a new chapter. Staring anew everyday. Start from that place life is much easier going. If we see it as a series of days that build on one another, any one event can topple it making it seem like a bigger deal. Knowing that if every day is new, if things didn’t go as as planned one day the next day we get a chance to start fresh.
I’m having a bad day, tomorrow is a new day. How cool is that? Rather than a day, how about each hour, minute or moment is new. Living life with that reality in mind, things get really interesting. There is so much freedom in living with a mindset of moment to moment newness. I think the new buzzword is “mindfulness.” Well living in Japan, mindfulness is an inherent part of the culture and in the air. It has become a big part of me in my day to day living and writing.
If you live moment to moment, rather than think of it as time, think of it as word to word. Each word representing the moment, and like every moment every word is fresh and new never the same. There is no reason to get hung up on what you want to say because it is already there having been revealed in that moment, then the next moment and the next. Well you get the picture.
So it is with my book. Just as I finish revising a chapter, each and everyday chipping away, the next chapter comes along having to start new. My initial reaction, a feeling of an overwhelming task. Then I remember one moment at a time, one word at a time and I begin to chip away at it all over again as I have done with previous chapters. Even if I don’t have a long writing session, I can at least chip away at a few sentences and begin anew. Then little by little, day by day that gets completed and a new chapter begins.
So it is in this spirit that I continue with the next chapter having reached the halfway point of revising my book, 10KLRS.
